About Us

Introduction

JCC - Jewish Community Council

The JCC (Jewish Community Council) was launched in 2015 by our founder, Rabbi
Levi Schapiro, and is co-directed by Rabbi Chaskel Dovid Halberstam, who currently serves as the Vice President of the JCC. The Jewish Community Council functions as a representative body umbrella organisation for significant portions of the strictly orthodox Jewish community through our membership, known as the Charedi community, in the UK. The JCC also serves as a platform to foster the next generation of young leaders by providing the tools necessary for success in communal life.

Recognising the need for a strong, united voice to represent our members to
government agencies, the JCC acts as a liaison between government departments
for parts of our community. Our mission is to represent the silent majority and
beyond through both proactive and reactive engagement with local communities and
government authorities, championing civil rights and civil liberties. Our leadership
comprises a diverse group of Jewish leaders, representing major sections of the
Orthodox Jewish communities in the UK.

Our energetic leadership is a dynamic blend of young and experienced lay leaders
and communal activists. They bring expertise in policy, external affairs, and politics,
and are dedicated to addressing a wide range of areas, including food poverty.
